About Edenkobener Mandelmeile

The Edenkobener Mandelmeile is one of the most important Palatinate almond blossom festivals and in 2026 will run over three weekends: March 7–8, March 14–15, and March 21–22. The venue is Villastraße in Edenkoben, leading up to the famous Villa Ludwigshöhe — a former summer residence of King Ludwig I of Bavaria from the 19th century, now one of the most important cultural monuments in the Vorderpfalz region. The Almond Mile is open daily from 11 am to 6 pm, and admission is free. The third weekend (March 21–22) is optional depending on the blooming status — if blooming starts late, it will be held in full; if it finishes early, it may be canceled. The Edenkobener Mandelmeile is one of the most highly attended events of the Palatinate almond blossom season.

Three Weekends in March

Unlike most Palatinate almond blossom festivals, which are concentrated on a single weekend, the Edenkobener Mandelmeile spreads its program over three consecutive weekends in March 2026. First weekend: March 7–8. Second weekend: March 14–15. Third weekend: March 21–22 (optional depending on blooming status). This staggered structure responds to the unpredictability of the almond blossoms — depending on the weather, blooming can start between early March and late March, and the festival is intended to coincide with the peak bloom as much as possible.

Villastraße to Villa Ludwigshöhe

Villastraße in Edenkoben is a traditional address — it leads from the town center eastward up to Villa Ludwigshöhe. This former summer residence of King Ludwig I of Bavaria from the 19th century is now one of the most important cultural monuments in the Palatinate and houses, among other things, the Max Slevogt Gallery. The Almond Mile covers the entire stretch of Villastraße — from the town center up to the Villa.

Free Admission

Admission to the Almond Mile is free. This accessibility is programmatic and underscores the folk festival-like character of the event. Those who wish to consume wine, food, or souvenirs pay for them individually at the stands. This structure — free admission, paid consumption — corresponds to the classic Palatinate wine festival format.

Six (or Four) Festival Days

The opening hours are clear: daily from 11 am to 6 pm. This daytime event structure (rather than nighttime festivities) corresponds to the character of the almond blossom experience — the almond blossoms unfold their full visual impact in daylight. Families, strollers, and day-trippers are the main visitors.

Third Weekend: Optional

The third weekend (March 21–22) is not guaranteed — its occurrence will be decided based on the blooming status. If blooming starts late (e.g., due to a cool March), it will be fully held. If blooming finishes early (e.g., due to a warm February), it may be canceled, as almond blossoms lose their magic without flowers. This flexible planning is a response to climate change and increasingly variable blooming times.

Palatinate Almond Blossom Tradition

The Almond Mile is part of the Palatinate Almond Blossom Circuit — a whole series of events taking place in mid/late March in the Vorderpfalz region. The Edenkobener Mandelmeile, the Gleiszellen-Gleishorbacher Mandelblütenfest, the Edesheimer Weinexchange, and other local festivals make this period a tourist highlight of the region.

Edenkobener Mandelmeile — edition 2026

The 2026 Edenkoben Almond Mile runs over three weekends: Sat March 7 + Sun March 8, Sat March 14 + Sun March 15, and Sat March 21 + Sun March 22 (optional depending on blooming status). Venue: Villastraße to Villa Ludwigshöhe. Daily 11 am–6 pm. Free admission. Palatinate almond blossom festival with wine service, gastronomy, and walking paths among the blooming almond trees.

The 2026 edition uses the staggered three-weekend structure to respond to the variable blooming times of the almonds. The third weekend is optional.

The program follows the proven Almond Mile structure — wine service, walks, almond trees in full bloom.
