Family program over the Easter holidays at the International Mill Museum Gifhorn
The International Mill Museum Gifhorn is one of the largest mill museums in Europe, bringing together around 16 mills from different countries on its grounds. The spectacular buildings – including the Russian Orthodox wooden church and the famous Glockenpalast complex – create an atmosphere that no classic museum can offer. At Easter, a family program is integrated into this setting, combining tradition, customs, and child-friendly activities.
For children, there are encounters with the Easter Bunny, an Easter egg hunt on the grounds, craft activities for Easter decorations, and creative stations. The activities are tailored to different ages and skill levels – even toddlers will find something to do. Educational support and friendly staff ensure a relaxed atmosphere.
During the Easter program, the mills are accessible, and mill guides explain the function of each structure. If the wind is favorable, you can witness milling demonstrations. Experiencing technical history combines with the family program for a truly rewarding excursion.
Easter specialties are offered in the village square and the museum's own restaurant – from Easter bread to lamb dishes. Coffee and cake, coffee, and cold drinks complete the gastronomic offerings. All the ingredients for a typical family Easter in a relaxed environment are present.
The Mill Museum opens its 2026 season on March 13th. The Easter program from April 3rd to 6th is the first major highlight of the year and attracts thousands of visitors annually from Gifhorn, Wolfsburg, Braunschweig, Hannover, and the surrounding region. Those who prefer a quiet day should choose Good Friday or Sunday morning.
