Tip
Sunday is Family Day with the strongest children's program. For the headliner concerts at Friedensplatz (Schulte Friday, Jaehn Saturday), arrive early — this stage is usually very crowded.
DORTBUNT — the big city festival with ten stages
When Dortmund's city center becomes a festival mile once a year, DORTBUNT is back. From May 8th to 10th, 2026, the city festival with the programmatic motto “10 Stages. 3 Days. 1 City Festival” celebrates its 8th edition. Initiated by the City of Dortmund in 2018, DORTBUNT has established itself as a central identity event for the city — deliberately free, deliberately inclusive, deliberately Dortmund-style.
Headliner Concerts at Friedensplatz
The main music stage is located at Friedensplatz:
- Friday, May 8th, 2026 — Michael Schulte (Germany's ESC representative 2018) and Paula Carolina
- Saturday, May 9th, 2026 — DJ Felix Jaehn (Headliner with global hits like “Cheerleader”) and Alli Neumann
- Sunday, May 10th, 2026 — Family Program on the DODO stage (Kleppingstraße)
More Stages Across the City
The stages are spread across the central squares and streets:
- Alter Markt — Local bands and DJ sets
- Hansaplatz — Indie, Pop, Singer-Songwriter
- Reinoldikirchplatz — Jazz with the Glen Buschmann Jazz Academy
- Kleppingstraße (DODO Stage) — Family and children's program on Sunday
- Roller Disco in the former C&A building (Saturday & Sunday)
Interactive Program — The People's Side of the Festival
DORTBUNT is not just concerts, but an interactive festival. Workshops on urban themes such as graffiti, parkour, dance, improvisation, and maker skills invite you to try things out yourself. For families, there are creative and movement activities provided by FABIDO, plus the Spacebuzz One simulator and culinary demonstrations.
Dortmund as a “Colorful” City — Identity in the City Festival
The name DORTBUNT is its program: Since the structural change away from coal and steel, Dortmund has become one of North Rhine-Westphalia's most diverse cities — with over 180 nations, a growing cultural scene, and a strong transformation from an industrial location to a knowledge and service metropolis. DORTBUNT tells this story once a year in a concentrated form, right in the city center of the independent city of Dortmund.
