A Village Stage with Tradition

The Dorftheater Ohorn is a firmly established cultural institution in the small community of Ohorn in the Bautzen district. Once a year in autumn, the group presents its new production in the Mittelschänke Ohorn – a traditional tavern that is converted into a stage for the performances.

Four Performances, Multiple Occasions

Over the October weekend, four performances are spread out: Thursday and Friday evenings, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday evening. This allows audiences from the region to choose the most suitable performance according to their time and preferences. Food and drinks are served before each performance from 5:00 PM (Sat evening 6:00 PM, Sat afternoon 1:30 PM) – traditionally with coffee and cake in the afternoon.

Folk Theatre and Village Stories

The programme combines entertainment, music, wit, and "morsche Geschichten" (morbid/funny stories). It is folk theatre in the best sense: down-to-earth, humorous, with an eye on the peculiarities of village life and the region. The actors are volunteers from Ohorn.
