Whitsun in Hintereben

The Dorffest Hintereben is the central event of the year in Hintereben, a district of the municipality of Jandelsbrunn in the Freyung-Grafenau district. Throughout the entire Whitsun weekend, the village square becomes a festival ground with a festival tent, stage, catering, and beer service. It is organized by the Hintereben Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Hintereben Sports Club.

Program of Music, Tradition, and Church Service

Whitsun Sunday is dedicated to the church service in the festival tent – a tradition firmly rooted in the predominantly Catholic Bavarian Forest. In addition, live bands from the region dominate the program: party bands like Bavaria Faetz, singer-songwriters like Ryan Eden, and mood bands like Der Artische Wahnsinn play in the festival tent throughout the weekend.

Families and Village Community

A dedicated children's program engages the young guests, while the fire brigade presents its equipment and the sports club fills the festival coffers with regional delicacies at its stands. The village festival serves as a showcase for club life and an annual meeting point for former residents and visitors from the Bavarian Forest.

In the Freyung-Grafenau district, Whitsun is the classic time for village and club festivals – the meadows are green, the days are long, and the nearby Bavarian Forest National Park fills the region with visitors. Hintereben benefits from this location and sees its festival as a rustic and cozy counterpart to the large folk festivals in the state capitals.
