Village Festival on a Two-Year Cycle
The Dorffest Grafenberg takes place every two years — after 2024, it will be held again in 2026. This rhythm is typical for many small Swabian communities: the voluntary organization, the high personnel intensity, and the effort involved for the clubs make an annual festival impossible. In the alternating year (i.e., 2025), other events take place, while the village festival itself follows a two-year cycle.
Town Center as a Festival Stage
The venue is the center of Grafenberg — the central intersection with the town hall, church, and surrounding buildings. A temporary stage is erected, and around it, the local clubs set up their pavilions: the music association, sports clubs, fire department, rural women's association, and church community. You can move freely between the pavilions, trying Württemberg wine here, Swabian beer there, accompanied by Maultaschen, sausages, fries, or cake.
Swabian Village Culture
The Dorffest Grafenberg embodies the quintessence of Swabian village culture: cozy, community-driven, with regional dishes and Württemberg wine at its heart. There are no pop headliners, no big show acts — instead, brass band music, popular bands from the region, and dance performances by local clubs. The typical atmosphere of a Swabian "Hocketse" — benches set up, barrel tapped, neighbors meeting — can be authentically experienced here.
Grafenberg in the Reutlingen District
Grafenberg is a municipality of just under 2,700 inhabitants in the Reutlingen district, at the foot of the Swabian Jura. Its location between Reutlingen, Metzingen (Outlet City), and Tübingen makes Grafenberg a residential community with good transport links. The village festival is an occasion for many former residents to return to their home village once a year.
