Grand brass music festival of the Musicians' Association with numerous music clubs from the Oldenburger Münsterland in Dinklage
The Dinklager Musikfest, also known in the region as the Bundesmusikerbundesfest, is one of the largest gatherings of brass music clubs in the Oldenburger Münsterland. Several music clubs from the Vechta district and neighboring districts gather in Dinklage on a Sunday in August for a day of marching music, concerts, a parade, and convivial festivities in the beer tent. The combination of club traditions and brass music culture is particularly widespread in this dense form in the Oldenburger Münsterland and the neighboring Emsland region.
Confirmed participants include the Musikverein Bakum and the Musikverein Vestrup, whose own event calendars list the date in Dinklage. Typically, other ensembles from the Vechta district — such as those from Lohne, Holdorf, Steinfeld, Goldenstedt, and Visbek — also participate. Each club contributes its own marching segments and concert pieces.
A typical Bundesmusikerbundesfest follows a clear schedule: Gathering of the clubs in the morning, march to the festival grounds, joint welcome and opening concert, followed by alternating concert performances by the individual music clubs on the main stage, with concurrent festivities in the beer tent. The event usually concludes with a jointly played march or a final piece performed by all participating clubs.
For the members of the participating clubs, the music festival is also a major social event. Musicians meet colleagues from other towns, friendly clubs maintain their connections, and boards exchange ideas. Families and supporters travel along. The beer tent becomes the convivial center of the day.
Access to the festival grounds is free. Food and drinks in the beer tent and at food stalls are paid for on-site. The organizer is the Musicians' Association of the Oldenburger Münsterland or the organizing member organization in Dinklage.
With the Musikfest 2026, the brass music clubs of the Oldenburger Münsterland continue their tradition of large joint events. Visitors can expect eight hours of marching music, concert pieces, and beer tent festivities.
The order of performances depends on the number of participating clubs; typical concert sets last 25 to 45 minutes per club. The opening and closing pieces are performed jointly.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Musicians' Association. The structure follows the proven key points of comparable federal festivals:
