Festival of Fishing Tradition
The Zempin Fishermen's Festival honors the centuries-old fishing and coastal tradition of Usedom Island. The venue is the Kurplatz (spa square) in Zempin, the smallest of Usedom's seaside resorts. The festival is organized by the Usedomer Bernsteinbäder (Amber Baths); admission is free.
Freshly Caught Specialties
The focus is on freshly caught specialties from the Baltic Sea and the Achterwasser – the calm lagoon waters behind the island. Smoked and fried fish, fish rolls, and other delicacies recall the times when Zempin lived from fishing. A maritime market completes the culinary offerings.
Program for the Whole Family
The Fishermen's Festival offers a diverse family program: dance groups from the Zempiner Verein für Groß und Klein e.V. (Zempin Association for Young and Old) perform, live music provides entertainment, and there are attractions and hands-on activities for the youngest visitors. The festival is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Vorpommern-Greifswald
Zempin is located between Zinnowitz and Koserow in the narrowest part of Usedom Island, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. As the island's smallest seaside resort, Zempin retains a particularly quiet, original character – the Fishermen's Festival reflects this close connection between the town and the sea.
