Die Festung Rockt – A Fortress Backdrop for Punk and Rock
Die Festung Rockt has been held since 2006 and is one of the most established one-day festivals in Upper Franconia. The venue is the Festung Rosenberg above the old town of Kronach – one of Europe's largest preserved fortress complexes, whose outer moats have proven to be a natural festival stage for almost two decades. The organizer is the Jugend- und Kulturtreff Struwwelpeter e.V., which manages the festival with around 100 young volunteers from the region and is supported by the Archdiocese of Bamberg, the city, and the district of Kronach.
Punk, Ska, Metalcore, and Indie
Musically, the festival covers a wide spectrum from Punk and Ska to Metalcore and Indie and singer-songwriter pop. Over the years, bands such as Donots, Massendefekt, ZSK, Emil Bulls, and Das Lumpenpack have performed on the fortress stage. Die Festung Rockt is firmly anchored in the festival calendar of the punk, ska, and rock scene in Upper Franconia.
20th Anniversary Edition 2026 (Sold Out)
On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the 20th edition will take place. 14 bands will play over 12 hours of live music on two stages. The headliners are Das Lumpenpack, Emil Bulls, ZSK, and The Toten Crackhuren im Kofferraum. Tickets including a two-night stay at the campsite (also with vehicle) are available for around €50 via Eventim; local advance booking offices are closed. As of May 2026: sold out.
Kronach in the Franconian Forest
Kronach is the district town of the Upper Franconian Kronach district in the Franconian Forest. The Festung Rosenberg towers above the historic old town and is accessible on foot via several paths. For festival visitors, the organizer's grounds offer a designated campsite; the fortress itself remains accessible year-round as a museum and cultural monument.

According to the organizers, it starts at 12:25 PM; afterward, 14 bands will play 12 hours of live music on two stages until late at night. By train to Kronach station (Lichtenfels–Hof line), then walk or take a shuttle up to Festung Rosenberg. By car: A73 / B173 / B85 to Kronach, designated parking available at the festival grounds.
