»Deutschland singt und klingt« is a nationwide initiative that celebrates German Unity Day with communal singing. Under the guiding principle of »Freedom, Unity, Hope«, the events serve as a musical thank-you demonstration: Where different voices come together, community is created – and that is exactly what a democracy needs. On October 3rd, such singing celebrations will take place in streets and market squares across the country.

Open Air at Alteglofsheim Castle

In Alteglofsheim, in the district of Regensburg in the state of Bavaria, the event is hosted as an Open Air in the East Courtyard of Alteglofsheim Castle. The historic castle is home to the Bavarian Music Academy, a renowned center for musical training and encounters. The atmospheric inner courtyard provides the perfect setting for communal singing under the open sky.

Ten Songs, One Country

The concept is coordinated nationwide: In the evening – simultaneously at all participating locations – ten songs of various styles will be sung together. This creates a unifying sonic experience that extends beyond the individual location and unites people across the country at the same time.

An Evening of Community

The event in Alteglofsheim combines the high musical standard of the Bavarian Music Academy with the accessible nature of sing-alongs: Everyone is invited to join in – no prior knowledge is necessary. Free admission underscores the open, community-building character of the evening in the district of Regensburg.
