Der Schimmelreiter is one of the most famous novellas by Theodor Storm, the great 19th-century North German narrator. The story of the dike master Hauke Haien, who builds a revolutionary dike and ultimately perishes with his wife and child in a storm, is one of the central works of German literature.

North German Premiere After Fulda

The musical had its world premiere in Fulda and will be exclusively presented in Hameln in 2026-27. This makes the Theater Hameln the North German venue for this musical adaptation. Hameln's selection as the North German premiere location is an honor for the city and its theater.

Spotlight Musicals is producing the musical with elaborate stage sets, lighting effects, and powerful music. The dark atmosphere of Storm's novella is translated musically and visually – the mythical white horse, the dike, the storm surge.
