Forest of lights from 100 trees

The hallmark of the Delmenhorst Christmas Market is the "Forest of Lights": Over 100 real fir trees are set up at Rathausplatz and festively illuminated. Together with the stalls, the trees create a closed, intimate atmosphere – a magical sight that distinguishes the market from other Christmas markets in the region.

The approximately 21 stalls offer a diverse range of culinary and artisanal products: mulled wine in various variations, eggnog, hot apple cider, bratwurst, pancakes, 'Schmalzkuchen' (lard cakes), candied almonds, candy apples, crêpes, smoked fish, and sweet temptations. There are also stalls with Christmas decorations, handicrafts, and gift ideas.

With a duration of around 37 days – from November 24 to December 29, 2026 – the Delmenhorst Christmas Market runs significantly longer than most Christmas markets in the region. So, those who miss the classic pre-Christmas market dates can still visit the market between the holidays.

Events and promotions

Numerous special events take place during the market's run: performances by regional choirs, brass ensembles, solo musicians, visits from St. Nicholas for the children, Advent promotions with Volksbank and Sparkasse, the concurrent children's action day in the Markthalle on December 13, and much more.
