A Family Band That's Taken Seriously

Deine Freunde – that's Florian Sump (Echt), Lukas Nimscheck (Söhne Mannheims), and Markus Pauli. Three musicians who haven't just dusted off the children's music genre, but have completely turned it upside down. Instead of Hänsel and Gretel clichés: hip-hop, pop, today's beats. Instead of naive lyrics: episodes from everyday family life that make parents laugh and take children seriously.

The Venue: Zitadelle Spandau

The Zitadelle is one of the best-preserved Renaissance fortresses in Europe and, in the summer months, the main venue for the Citadel Music Festival. The courtyard can hold around 9,000 people, with the stage set up in front of the distinctive Julius Tower. For a children's concert, this is an extraordinary setting – open-air, historic, in Berlin-Spandau, far from the hustle and bustle of indoor venues.

Format and Audience

The concert is under the label Kindsköpfe im Park (Little Rascals in the Park), a series that Deine Freunde performs as a summer family event in several German cities. The band recommends it for children between 4 and 12 years old, plus at least one parent. Ear protection for the little ones is advisable; the concert isn't deafening, but it's outdoors and has bass.
