Dahner Sommerspiele — 2026 Season

The Dahner Sommerspiele are a traditional series of events in the Felsenstadt Dahn — one of the most characteristic places in the southern Palatinate Forest. The 2026 season includes a total of 13 events, spread from March to November — concerts, readings, cabaret, theater. The main venue is the Otfried-von-Weißenburg-Theater, named after the significant 9th-century Old High German poet from nearby Weißenburg/Wissembourg in Alsace.

Opening Concert „Rock meets Klassik“

The 2026 season will open on Friday, March 20th, 2026, with the concert „Rock meets Klassik“ — an established format that combines rock classics with classical arrangements. Start time 8 PM at the Otfried-von-Weißenburg-Theater. The program appeals to a broad audience that appreciates the fusion of rock standards (Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Genesis, AC/DC, and others) with classical orchestral arrangements.

Dahn — the Felsenstadt

Dahn is a small town with around 5,000 inhabitants in the Südwestpfalz district. It is located in the middle of the Palatinate Forest, at the foot of the Altdahn, Grafendahn, and Tanstein castles — the „Dahner Burgengruppe“ (Dahn Castle Group), one of the most spectacular castle complexes in southern Germany. The red sandstone rocks, the castles, the forests, and the proximity to Alsace make Dahn a tourist destination — and a venue with a special atmosphere.

13 Events March to November

The 2026 season of the Sommerspiele includes 13 events. Concerts of various genres (rock classics, jazz, singer-songwriters), theater performances by independent groups, cabaret programs, readings — the spectrum is broad. This diversity gives the series its character as a cultural season for a rather rural region that cannot maintain a large permanent theater but receives a high-quality cultural program through the Sommerspiele.

Otfried-von-Weißenburg-Theater

The Otfried-von-Weißenburg-Theater is Dahn's central cultural venue. The hall offers about 350 seats — a size ideal for most Sommerspiele formats. The acoustics and technical equipment allow for classical concerts as well as rock events and theater performances.
