13 events from March to November at various venues – Classical music, theatre, comedy, and cabaret in the characteristic setting of the Dahner Felsenland.
The Dahner Sommerspiele are the central cultural season of the Dahner Felsenland, bringing together 13 events from the fields of classical music, theatre, comedy, and cabaret over eight months. With a season running from March to November, it extends far beyond the summer, establishing the Dahner Felsenland as a culturally active region throughout the year.
Unlike a classic festival with a single stage, the Sommerspiele use several venues of high historical and atmospheric quality. Alt-Dahn Castle, the medieval castle complex on a striking rock formation, serves for open-air concerts and theatre performances with a spectacular backdrop. The Dahn Town Theatre offers space for classical music, drama, and comedy indoors. The Spa Gardens complement the offerings with open-air events in the town centre. In addition, there are individual other venues depending on the concept of the performance.
The 2026 season starts on March 20 with the opening concert Rock meets Klassik, a fusion of classical orchestra and rock classics. On April 19, Junge Klassik follows, featuring emerging talents. The theatrical highlight is on August 21 with the renowned Palatinate dialect theatre Chawwerusch, presenting one of its typical socio-critically humorous productions in the Palatinate dialect. The season concludes on November 21 with a guest performance by the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern.
The Dahner Felsenland, with its striking sandstone formations, dense mixed forests, and medieval castles, is one of the most scenically impressive regions of the Palatinate. This backdrop makes the Sommerspiele a special experience: classical music at the castle, comedy in the urban spa town, dialect theatre in a familiar atmosphere. The Verein Dahner Sommerspiele e.V. (Dahner Sommerspiele Association) works on a voluntary basis and has built up an impressive cultural programme over the years that receives attention far beyond regional borders.
The 2026 season continues the proven concept of the Dahner Sommerspiele: a cultural series spread over eight months featuring high-quality classical, theatre, and comedy productions at various venues. The complete 2026 programme will be published by the association Dahner Sommerspiele e.V. on dahner-sommerspiele.de. The structure follows the established cornerstones of previous years.
Tickets can be booked online via reservix.de; advance booking on-site via the Dahn Tourist Information is also possible.
Between these highlights, nine further dates from the fields of classical music, theatre, comedy, and cabaret are scheduled. The complete programme with all dates, artists, and venues will be published by the organiser in spring. The structure follows the established cornerstones of previous years.
