Alt-Dahn Castle as a Venue

Alt-Dahn Castle is the largest and best-known rock castle in the Dahner Felsenland. Perched on a mighty red sandstone rock above the town of Dahn, it offers one of the most atmospheric open-air stages in the Palatinate. Open-air concerts with the panorama of the Wasgau, organ concerts in front of historic walls, theatre performances in a setting that rivals any classical production – Alt-Dahn Castle makes the Sommerspiele a special experience.

Thirteen Dates Between March and November

The series spans the entire year: it begins in March with "Rock meets Klassik" by the Rhineland-Palatinate State Police Orchestra and ends in November with the carnival opening by the KVE. In between, there are classical concerts (Junge Klassik, Organ Concert Dan Zerfaß), comedy (Amjad, anonyme Giddarischde), poetry slam, Palatinate dialect theatre (Hannelore Bähr "Bürckel!"), open-air picnic concerts ("Picknick im Park"), Pfalztheater guest performances, brass concerts, and children's theatre ("Das Traumfresserchen").
