Open Sunday with flea market and town festival atmosphere around St. Martin's Day
The Martinimarkt Dahn is one of the most traditional late autumn market events in the Dahner Felsenland. Its date is regularly set in the run-up to St. Martin's Day on November 11, thus picking up on an old Christian-agrarian tradition where markets and fairs took place on this date, which were of considerable economic and social importance.
The focus is on the open Sunday: Dahn's retail shops open their doors outside of regular Sunday rest hours and invite customers to browse, shop for gifts, and enjoy the autumn town center atmosphere. This is complemented by a flea market with stalls in the streets and squares, where traders from the region and beyond offer their goods.
Snack stands, mulled wine stalls, crêpe stands, chestnut roasters, and hearty Palatinate specialties provide culinary accompaniment. Local restaurants offer themed daily specials, and cafes provide places to rest between market visits and shopping.
With just under 5,000 inhabitants, Dahn is the urban center of the Dahner Felsenland and the seat of the collective municipality. The town functions as a supply and shopping center for the numerous surrounding small villages and tourist locations. The Martinimarkt strengthens this function and makes Dahn an attraction for the entire region on this Sunday.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept: a day when market, retail, and gastronomy come together to liven up the town center. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the city of Dahn in late autumn. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
