About CVP Prunksitzung 2026

The CVP Prunksitzung is the flagship event of the 1st Carnival Club Pirmasens (CVP) and has been the social and carnival highlight of the Pirmasens carnival season for decades. In the traditional Festhalle Pirmasens, the club will once again gather over 150 participants on stage in 2026: sharp-tongued satirical speakers (Büttenredner), precise dance troupes, show dance groups, Funkenmariechen (carnival dancers), music groups, and a council of eleven (Elferrat) in full regalia. With professional stage technology, a program lasting several hours, and a thoroughly choreographed dramaturgy, the CVP Prunksitzung combines centuries-old Rhenish-Palatinate carnival tradition with current local color – Pirmasens under the carnival magnifying glass, garnished with West Palatinate humor and sharp punchlines in dialect.

Tradition for over 100 years

The 1st Carnival Club Pirmasens (CVP) is one of the oldest and most traditional carnival clubs in the West Palatinate region. With its council of eleven (Elferrat), dance troupes, headline, and satirical speech departments, it preserves the classic format of Rhenish and Palatinate hall carnival (Saalfastnacht): a multi-hour gala session (Prunksitzung) with a fixed sequence of satirical speeches, dances, show acts, and music, presented with grand stage and hall design in the Pirmasens Festhalle.

Over 150 participants on stage

The gala session brings together over 150 participants each year: troupes in pompous uniforms, show dance groups with elaborate choreographies, Funkenmariechen (carnival dancers), a council of eleven (Elferrat) in tailcoats and top hats, a master of ceremonies, several satirical speakers (Büttenredner) with local themes and dialect contributions, as well as music groups that accompany the program between the stage acts. Preparation takes months, including costume making, choreography rehearsals, and stage rehearsals.

Pirmasens under the carnival magnifying glass

The satirical speeches (Büttenreden) address current topics of the city and the West Palatinate region – municipal political allusions, Pirmasens personalities, shoemaker city mythology, Palatinate everyday life. Presented in dialect and with Pirmasens' typical blend of self-irony and sharp observation, the session is a reflection of the city – and at the same time, high-level entertainment.

Festhalle Pirmasens as the venue

The Festhalle Pirmasens, the city's largest event venue, has been the home of the CVP Prunksitzung for decades. With fixed table seating, professional stage and lighting technology, and ample space for several hundred guests, it offers the ideal backdrop. Catering and beverage service at the tables are organized, allowing guests to enjoy the stage program without interruption.

CVP Prunksitzung 2026 — edition 2026

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, the 1st Carnival Club Pirmasens (CVP) presents its grand gala session (Prunksitzung) at the Festhalle Pirmasens. Over 150 participants will be on stage: satirical speakers (Büttenredner) with Pirmasens themes in dialect, precise dance troupes, show dance groups with elaborate choreographies, Funkenmariechen (carnival dancers), a council of eleven (Elferrat) in full regalia, and music groups that rhythmically hold the program together. In the traditional West Palatinate Pentecost setting, a classic hall carnival evening unfolds, embodying the Pirmasens carnival tradition for decades. The session is considered the social highlight of the season and is regularly sold out.

The date, February 7, 2026, falls one week after the Pirmasens carnival parade (February 1) and thus forms another highlight of the local 2025/2026 carnival season. The club has been preparing costumes, choreographies, and stage designs since late summer 2025 – the gala session is a year-round project.

Advance sales are ongoing via cvp-online.de as well as the Pirmasens Tourist Information. Early booking is strongly recommended, as the session has regularly sold out within a few weeks in recent years.
