Maritime Port Festival with Shanty Choir, Ship Tours, and Helicopter Flights — July 21st to 23rd, 2026
The Cuxhaven Port Days are the main maritime festival of the North Sea spa town. The venue is the quay at the swing bridge, Kapitän-Alexander-Straße — the heart of Cuxhaven's inner harbor, where fishing boats, cruise ships, and maritime history meet.
The 2026 edition is the approx. 47th edition and takes place from Tuesday, July 21st to Thursday, July 23rd, 2026. The official opening is on Friday from approx. 2:00 PM.
Two stages provide almost continuous live music:
A highlight is the ship tours: Navy, research, and traditional ships, as well as historic sailing vessels, will be docked at the quay during the Port Days and can be visited. The maritime stalls offer souvenirs, sailor's clothing, model boats, jewelry, and specialties.
A special service of the Cuxhaven Port Days are the helicopter flights, offering a unique view of Cuxhaven, the harbor, the Elbe estuary, and the Wadden Sea.
The culinary stalls along the quay present shrimp rolls, smoked fish, Matjes herring, fish rolls, and everything the Cuxland fishing heritage has to offer in terms of cuisine — plus bratwurst, fries, and drinks for those with less maritime tastes.
Cuxhaven is Germany's largest deep-sea fishing port and one of Northern Europe's most important cruise destinations. The Port Days celebrate this maritime heritage and make it an annual experience for the entire city every July.
The detailed 2026 program will be published by the North Sea spa town of Cuxhaven in advance. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Hafenkaje, Kapitän-Alexander-Straße, 27472 Cuxhaven. Via the A 27 to Cuxhaven, follow signs to the inner harbor. Train connection to Cuxhaven station, then a short walk.
Free admission to the festival grounds. Helicopter flights and individual activities are subject to a charge.
Book a helicopter flight for a unique aerial experience of Cuxhaven. Listen to a live shanty choir — it's one of the most authentic harbor experiences on the German North Sea coast.
