About CSD Würzburg

From June 22 to 28, 2026, Würzburg will transform into Bavaria's third-largest CSD stage for a week. Under the motto »Viele*Gemeinsam*Stark« (Many*Together*Strong), Queer Pride Würzburg e.V. invites you to seven days of events: a political opening in the council chamber, Queer Slam, Dyke*March, a large CSD demonstration on Saturday starting in Ringpark, followed by a street festival on Oberer and Unterer Markt, an aftershow party, and a queer church service to conclude. Würzburg, an old episcopal city on the Main, shows itself to be diverse, loud, and solidarity-driven.

Seven Days of Queer Pride in Würzburg

CSD Würzburg is one of the most important large-scale queer events in Bavaria, bringing together thousands of people in the Lower Franconian episcopal city year after year. In 2026, the Queer Pride Festival Week runs from June 22 to 28 under the motto »Viele*Gemeinsam*Stark«.

Program 2026 Overview

  • Mon, June 22, 7:00 PM – Political Opening in the Council Chamber of Würzburg City Hall, with greetings from Mayor and Patron Martin Heilig and Equal Opportunities Officer Kristin Funk, political demands from Axel Hochrein (former LSVD federal board) and guest speaker Sophie Koch (queer political spokesperson for the federal government)
  • Wed, June 24, 7:30 PM – Queer Slam at the Cairo Cultural Center
  • Fri, June 26, 6:00 PM – Dyke*March through Würzburg city center
  • Sat, June 27, 12:00 PM – Large CSD Demonstration, assembly point in Ringpark
  • Sat, June 27, from 1:00 PM – Street festival with stage program on Oberer and Unterer Markt
  • Sat, June 27, 10:00 PM – Aftershow Party at Laby
  • Sun, June 28, 12:00 PM – Queer Church Service at the Catholic University Community (KHG)

Demonstration Through the City Center

The highlight of the festival week is the CSD Demonstration on Saturday, June 27. The procession starts at 12:00 PM in Ringpark – Würzburg's green city ring around the historic center – and ends at the market square, where the street festival with a stage program fills the afternoon and evening.

Queer Pride Würzburg e.V.

The organizer is Queer Pride Würzburg e.V., which has been organizing the festival week on a voluntary basis for years. The association explicitly understands CSD as a political demonstration for the rights of queer people and not solely as a party. The combination of political opening, demonstration, street festival, and cultural framework defines the Würzburg Pride format.

Motto »Viele*Gemeinsam*Stark«

The 2026 motto emphasizes the diversity of queer identities and the necessity of collective solidarity. It deliberately uses the asterisk spelling, which represents the diversity of gender identities and life choices.

Würzburg as a Pride City

With around 128,000 inhabitants, Würzburg is one of the most important cities in Lower Franconia and, with Julius Maximilian University, hosts one of Bavaria's oldest universities. Since its inception, the CSD has been an indicator that a visible queer community exists even outside major metropolises like Munich, Berlin, or Cologne. The festival week also serves as cultural networking with the student scene, churches, and the city's society.
