Christopher Street Day with demonstration, closing party, and cultural festival in the city center
For many years, CSD Nordwest has been the most important Pride event in Oldenburg and the entire region between the Ems and Weser rivers. It follows the tradition of Christopher Street Day demonstrations, which commemorate the Stonewall Uprising of June 1969 in New York worldwide and advocate for the rights of queer people.
The highlight of CSD Nordwest is the large demonstration through the city center on Saturday, June 20th, 2026. The parade starts in the city center, proceeds through the main streets, and ends near Schlossplatz or Heiligengeiststraße. Thousands of participants from Oldenburg, the surrounding area, and the entire Northwest region take part — on floats, on foot, with banners, in costumes, with music.
CSD is not just a celebration, but also a political demonstration. Demands range from equal rights in family law and adoption, protection against discrimination and hate crimes, to the consistent implementation of the civil registry law reform. Visibility, self-determination, and solidarity are the key themes.
After the demonstration, the official closing party takes place — usually on an open-air stage or in a club in the city center. DJs, drag performances, and concerts extend the day late into the night.
On the following days, the accompanying cultural festival runs with readings, film screenings, discussion panels, exhibition openings, and the 'Nacht der kleinen Künste'. Heiligengeiststraße, around the queer center CORE, becomes the main cultural axis.
The organizer is CSD Nordwest e.V., which works year-round for queer visibility in the region. The center is CORE, located at Heiligengeiststraße 6-8.
The 2026 edition continues the tradition of CSD demonstrations in Oldenburg. The exact daily program, demonstration route, stage acts, and cultural program will be published by the organizer in advance.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring and early summer. The structure follows the established key points:
Oldenburg city center, demonstration route, and Heiligengeiststraße 6-8 (CORE).
Saturday, June 20th to Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026. Demonstration: June 20th.
