15 Years of CSD Karlsruhe — Pride in the Fan City

CSD Karlsruhe — Christopher Street Day — will be celebrated for the 15th time in 2026, having started in 2011. On Saturday, June 6, 2026, CSD Karlsruhe traditionally opens the Pride season in June in Baden-Württemberg. Thousands of queer people, allies, and sympathizers will march through Karlsruhe's city center, celebrating visibility, diversity, and equality.

Demonstration: Rondellplatz → City Center → Rondellplatz

The Pride march starts at 1 PM at Rondellplatz, the central square in front of Karlsruhe's city center. The demonstration procession leads through Karlsruhe's pedestrian zone (Kaiserstraße, Marktplatz, Erbprinzenstraße) and ends back at Rondellplatz around 3 PM. Colorful floats, music, dancing, banners, and political demands characterize the event — a mix of demonstration and festive parade.

CSD Family Festival on Marktplatz — 11 AM to 10 PM

Parallel to the demonstration, the CSD Family Festival runs on Marktplatz from 11 AM to 10 PM: stage program with performances by queer artists, drag shows, and political speeches, plus food & drinks and the Pride Info Street with stands from local associations, queer organizations, and counseling centers. The family festival is explicitly intended for all generations — children, parents, grandparents, queer people, and their allies.

2026 Motto — “Queer Minds Matter; Because Hate Makes You Sick”

The 2026 motto focuses on the psychosocial health of queer people. Discrimination demonstrably increases the risk of depression, anxiety disorders, and suicidality in the LGBTQIA+ community. CSD Karlsruhe thus draws attention to the need for professionally competent, queer-sensitive psychosocial counseling — and to society's responsibility to counter hate and discrimination.

Chill-out Area at Schlossplatz

For those who want a break after the demonstration and the hustle and bustle on Marktplatz, the chill-out area at Schlossplatz offers a retreat — with seating, quieter music, and a small program. Schlossplatz in front of Karlsruhe Palace is one of the most beautiful squares in the fan city and provides the perfect backdrop for relaxation.

Accompanying Program from May 17

The official accompanying program for CSD Karlsruhe starts as early as May 17 — with film screenings, readings, political discussion events, queer parties, and workshops. CSD Karlsruhe e.V. collaborates with local cultural institutions, cinemas, counseling centers, and universities for this. The accompanying program gives the Pride week a thematic depth that extends beyond the festival weekend itself.

15th Christopher Street Day Karlsruhe

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, CSD Karlsruhe opens the Pride season in Baden-Württemberg. The motto “Queer Minds Matter; Because Hate Makes You Sick” focuses on the psychosocial health of queer people — an urgent appeal to society to take discrimination and its health consequences seriously.

Three locations define the day: Rondellplatz as the start and end point of the demonstration, Marktplatz as the stage for the Family Festival, and Schlossplatz as the chill-out area. Thousands of people — queer and allies — come from all over the Southwest to Karlsruhe.
