Pride parade through Ingolstadt's city center for diversity and acceptance
Ingolstadt, with over 140,000 inhabitants, is the third largest city in Bavaria and a university city with a distinct LGBTQ+ community. Christopher Street Day Ingolstadt – CSD for short – is organized by the association Queer Ingolstadt e.V. and is considered the most important LGBTQ+ event in the region between Munich and Nuremberg. In 2026, it will take place on Saturday, September 5.
The Pride parade starts at Paradeplatz in the north of the old town and proceeds through the city center: past the Liebfrauenmünster, across Rathausplatz, and then towards Schloßlände on the Danube. Colorful rainbow flags, posters, music from sound trucks, and a great atmosphere – the parade is both a political demonstration and a lively street festival.
On Schloßlände and Rathausplatz, politicians from progressive parties will give speeches emphasizing the fight against discrimination and for equal rights. As a sign of tolerance, the city of Ingolstadt will hoist the rainbow flag at the Old Town Hall for CSD – a visible commitment from the city administration. The festival is thus supported by the city.
After the parade, the festival program continues: live acts on stage, later drag shows and DJ sets in venues like KAP94, one of Ingolstadt's best-known event locations. CSD is therefore not just a daytime event but extends throughout the day and late into the night.
The Ingolstadt CSD is part of a network of Bavarian Pride events, including the major events in Munich (July), Nuremberg (August), and smaller dates in Hof (May), Kelheim (June), Augsburg, and other cities. Those celebrating Pride in Bavaria have a rich selection throughout the summer. Ingolstadt deliberately sets its date in September – a quieter spot in the calendar, but with its own radiance.
The 2026 edition of CSD Ingolstadt on September 5 follows the proven format: Pride parade in the afternoon through the old town, starting at Paradeplatz, route through the city center past the Münster and across Rathausplatz to Schloßlände on the Danube. Colorful rainbow flags, political posters, music, and a great atmosphere characterize the procession.
Speeches will be held on Schloßlände and Rathausplatz afterwards – politicians from progressive parties will emphasize the commitment against discrimination and for equal rights. In the evening, KAP94 takes over with drag shows and DJ sets, and other venues in Ingolstadt's city center will also be active.
