Pride in the Province
Christopher Street Days traditionally take place primarily in Germany's major cities – Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich. CSD Aurich is one of the examples showing that the Pride movement is also gaining a foothold in medium-sized cities and rural regions. Since its first edition in 2016, the association Ulrichs e.V. Aurich has been organizing Christopher Street Day in the East Frisian district town.
11th Edition 2026
The 11th edition will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The format combines the classic elements of a CSD: a demonstration march through the city center with demands for equality, a stage program with speeches, live music, and performances, as well as meeting opportunities with regional associations, initiatives, and political actors.
New Leadership Since 2026
Since 2026, the association Ulrichs e.V. has been led by new management, aiming to further develop the format. The focus is on strengthening the visibility of LGBTQ+ issues in East Frisia and reinforcing networks among participants.
Significance for Aurich
CSD Aurich makes the city a place where topics such as sexual orientation, gender identity, and diversity are openly discussed. The response from the city community – politics, associations, churches, businesses – has grown over the years. The festival is therefore not just an LGBTQ+ event, but also a statement by the region on openness and democracy.

- Afternoon: Stage program with live music, drag performances, spoken word, speeches, political statements
- Meeting Mile: Booths from associations, counseling centers, initiatives, political parties, and companies with an LGBTQ+ focus
- Evening: After-show program and joint wind-down
