Village festival at Criewen Granary — directly at Gut Criewen in the Lower Oder Valley National Park
Criewen is a district of the town of Schwedt/Oder and is located directly at the entrance to the Lower Oder Valley National Park — Germany's only floodplain national park. The historic Gut Criewen with its castle and Lenné Park forms the cultural heart of the village, and the National Park begins right behind the houses. Against this extraordinary backdrop, the Street and Children's Festival takes place every year in June — a village festival that has a special authenticity precisely because of its small scale.
The festival grounds are located at the historic Criewen Granary on Bernd von Arnim Straße — a central point of the village. From 2 PM to 6 PM, families can expect games, hands-on activities, craft stations, live music, club stands with culinary offerings, and movement games for children. "Games, fun, and entertainment for everyone," as the program states. Free admission.
Anyone visiting the village festival should take time for a short tour of the Lower Oder Valley National Park. The unique floodplain national park showcases flora and fauna rarely found elsewhere in Central Europe — with white-tailed eagles, beavers, cranes, and meadows that are seasonally flooded. The Criewen Castle and Lenné Park, designed by Peter Joseph Lenné, are also worth a stroll.
Schwedt/Oder is located in the Uckermark district, directly on the Polish border. With around 29,000 inhabitants, the town is one of the urban centers of the Uckermark, alongside Templin and Prenzlau — and a main hub for industry (PCK Refinery) as well as culture (Uckermärkische Bühnen, Gut Criewen). The Street and Children's Festival in Criewen is one of the many small summer festivals with which the Uckermark kicks off the summer in June.
The festival begins at 2 PM and lasts until 6 PM. Around the Criewen Granary on Bernd von Arnim Straße, stations for children, parents, and grandparents will be set up. Club stands will offer culinary delights, and a small stage will provide music.
Small, personal, and village-like — the Street and Children's Festival in Criewen is a good example of the accessible festival culture of the Uckermark.
