18th edition of a Worms tradition

Since 2007, the Worms Culture Night has made the city centre a large open stage. Now in its 18th edition, it has established itself as the central format of the Worms cultural scene: museums such as the Museum of the City of Worms at the Andreasstift and the Heylshof Museum, the city library, the Worms churches, galleries such as the Galerie Boecker and the Galerie Lavignes, bookshops, yoga studios, cafés and city-centre venues open their rooms and design their own short program.

Over 30 locations in the city centre

The Worms city centre area — Marktplatz, Kämmererstraße, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße, Heylshof garden, Worms cathedral surroundings — is during the Culture Night completely accessible on foot. The performance venues are marked by a uniform Culture Night logo; the paths between the venues are usually only a few minutes. Program booklets with overview map and timetable are available free of charge at all locations.

Diversity of programs

The program of the Worms Culture Night deliberately relies on diversity: classical concerts in the Worms churches, jazz sessions in cafés and on roof terraces, short theater performances in galleries, readings in bookshops, art exhibitions in shops (art in retail), open studio formats in artist studios, dance, performance and hands-on offers. City tours through the Worms city centre with focus on Jewish heritage, Roman heritage or Nibelungen are also offered.

BlueNite Open Air on roof terrace

A special highlight is the jazz initiative BlueNite of the WCG Liederkranz, which presents an open-air concert on a city-centre roof terrace during the Worms Culture Night. On a clear summer evening, a very special concert atmosphere arises here above the rooftops of the Worms city centre with a view of the cathedral.

During the day Fern Appel unne Ei

Already on Saturday during the day, before the actual Culture Night begins, the Worms retail flea market Fern Appel unne Ei takes place in the pedestrian zone. Worms retail opens its doors and offers small action stands, special sales and culinary offerings on the street — a pre-program that already populates the city centre in the afternoon.
