One of Europe's largest rock and metal festivals at the Nürburgring
Since 1985, Rock am Ring has attracted fans from all over Europe to the Nürburgring in the Eifel region at the beginning of June every year. What began as a supporting event for motorsport has developed into one of the key dates in the international festival calendar. Iron Maiden, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, or Foo Fighters – the list of bands that have graced the Rock am Ring stage could go on almost indefinitely.
The festival spans four stages, including the iconic Main Stage in front of the distinctive pit lane building. Over the three days, more than 80 bands perform a tightly packed program of rock, metal, punk, hardcore, and crossover acts. Between the stages, food courts, a festival market, side stages, and a DJ tent create a continuous sound and experience landscape.
A significant part of the Rock am Ring myth is the camping. Starting on Wednesday, the camping areas around the track fill up with tents, flags, and multi-generational festival groups. Classic camping rituals, campfires, spontaneous concerts between tents, and the walk to the stages shape the experience just as much as the official stage program.
The backdrop of the Nürburgring, one of the most famous race tracks in the world, gives Rock am Ring its own identity. Unlike urban festivals, Rock am Ring takes place in a clearly defined, expansive area in the Eifel, which shapes both logistics and atmosphere. Current safety and comfort standards make the festival today a highly professionally organized major event that has simultaneously preserved the spirit of its early days.
Three festival days, four stages, and well over 80 bands from rock, metal, punk, crossover, and hardcore define the 2026 edition. Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, and Volbeat headline the Main Stage; international stars alternate with genre newcomers on the other stages.
The camping area opens on Wednesday, June 3rd, so the festival feeling begins two days before the first performance.
