Four-day beer and gourmet festival in Coesfeld's city center — from Friday to Whit Monday
When you think of craft beer, you first think of Brooklyn, Berlin-Kreuzberg, or the Bavarian brewing scene around Munich. The fact that Coesfeld, a city of 36,000 inhabitants in western Münsterland, hosts its own Craft Beer & Gourmet Festival is a pleasant break from geographical clichés. Four days of the Whit weekend, city center open-air atmosphere, brewers from the region and beyond, plus curated gourmet food stalls — the concept has established itself in recent years and attracts visitors from all over Münsterland.
The festival runs from Friday, May 28 to Whit Monday, May 31, 2026 — four days during which the brewery pavilions will be set up in the Coesfeld city center. The Whit date is wisely chosen: long weekend appeal, good outdoor weather probability, family-friendly. Exact daily opening hours will be communicated in advance on coesfeld.de; for comparable festivals of this format, expect openings from late morning (11 a.m. – 12 p.m.) until 10–11 p.m.
The focus is on craft breweries — small and medium-sized breweries beyond the mass market brands, serving their own creations directly at the pavilion. Expect:
The gourmet component complements the offer with curated food stalls — no mass-produced bratwurst, but street food concepts, regional specialties, vegetarian-vegan options, sweets (chocolate, ice cream, patisserie).
The Coesfeld city center is a Westphalian medium-sized city center with St. Lambert's Church, the market square, a pedestrian zone, and historical remnants of the city fortifications. It offers the typical open-air atmosphere where a festival of this format works well — short distances between pavilions, ample standing room, atmospheric lighting of the historical buildings in the evening.
Coesfeld is easily accessible via the A43 and is about 40 km from Münster. Those spending the Whit weekend in the region can combine the festival with cycling tours through Münsterland (e.g., to Vischering Castle in Lüdinghausen or to Coesfelder Berg). Hotels in Coesfeld city center and the surrounding area should be booked well in advance if possible.
The 2026 edition uses the Whit weekend for a four-day beer and food party in the Westphalian medium-sized city center. The exact brewery lineup and food stall setup will be announced in advance by the organizer.
