23rd City Culture Festival of the Cologne Music Association at Tanzbrunnen — Choirs, Orchestras, Dance Groups
When Cologne's choirs and orchestras march to the Tanzbrunnen on June 14, 2026, the Cologne Music Festival is here — already in its 23rd edition since its inception in 2003. The City Culture Festival of the Cologne Music Association gathers choirs, orchestras, and dance groups from Cologne's entire club scene from 11 AM onwards in a multicultural music parcours around the iconic open-air stage on the Rheinpark.
Since its founding in 1928, the Tanzbrunnen has been one of Cologne's most famous open-air venues. The oval stage with its characteristic sun sail can accommodate up to 12,500 spectators, and the adjacent theater 1,800. With views across the Rhine to the Cologne Cathedral and the city skyline, it forms the ideal backdrop for a city music festival. For the Music Festival, the program is spread around the main basin — and in the park areas, beach areas, and side promenades.
The concept is parcours-like: several stages and performance venues spread across the Tanzbrunnen grounds, the audience "wanders" through the performances and experiences:
Cologne is the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and the cultural heavyweight of the Rhineland. Behind the major festivals (Carnival, Cologne Pride, Phil.Cologne), there is an extraordinarily dense club scene — the Music Association is the umbrella organization for this choral and orchestral tradition. The Cologne Music Festival provides a central stage for this association work once a year — and makes club life visible to a broad audience.
The 23rd edition of the Cologne Music Festival follows the proven format: several stages spread across the Tanzbrunnen grounds, with the audience wandering through the performances. A program mix of choirs, orchestras, and dance groups — with a multicultural focus reflecting Cologne's diversity. Organized by the Cologne Music Association.
Free admission to all performances.
The Tanzbrunnen can be reached via KVB line 5 (Reichensperger Platz stop) or bus line 250. From the main train station, it's a 15-20 minute walk across the Hohenzollern Bridge and through the Rheinpark. By car, take the Inneren Kanalstraße — parking garages at the Rheinpark.
Free admission to all performances.
The program runs from 11 AM — come early if you want to experience the full parcours. Bring sun protection if it's sunny, as the Tanzbrunnen area is mostly open. Ideal to combine with a walk through the Rheinpark.
