Cochem Easter and Spring Market

Cochem thrives on tourism, and tourism on the Middle Moselle thrives on the seasons. During the winter months, the town rests relatively quietly in its narrow valley, but as soon as the days get longer and the sun brings warmth back to the steep vineyards, the festive life awakens. The Easter and Spring Market is the first significant event on the calendar: it signifies the start of the season, spring feelings, and anticipation for Easter.

Around forty to fifty stalls gather at Endertplatz on a March weekend, offering a typical spring selection. On one side are the artisans with hand-painted Easter eggs, wooden bunnies, felt decorations, candles, jewelry, ceramics, and small gifts. On the other side, farmers and regional producers offer their seasonal products: honey, jams, baked goods, asparagus, early blooming plants for the garden or balcony, herbs, and spices. Florists and garden centers bring the first spring blooms – tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, primroses in all colors.

On Sunday, the shops in Cochem's town center also open their doors as part of a Sunday shopping event. This merges the market with regular retail to create an all-day city experience. Live music from the spring and folk spectrum, a small family program with egg painting and craft activities, and several food stalls with classic market fare – bratwurst, crepes, waffles, coffee, and cake – complete the offering. Admission is free.
