Classical Music in the Spitalkirche
The Classical Festival Golden October takes place in the Spitalkirche Schwandorf – a former hospital building from the 14th century, ideal for chamber concerts due to its warm acoustics and intimate atmosphere. The organizers are the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus and the City of Schwandorf.
International Artists in an Intimate Atmosphere
The artistic director is Christoph Soldan, who curates the program annually and invites renowned musicians from around the world. The format is deliberately chosen: five concerts over just under three weeks, each concert with its own stylistic emphasis – from melodic soundtrack concerts and classical violin concertos to modern crossover programs.
Schwandorf in the Upper Palatinate
Schwandorf is the district town of the district of the same name (Upper Palatinate, Bavaria), located on the Naab river between Regensburg and the Czech border. The city has around 30,000 inhabitants and has established a firm place in the Bavarian cultural landscape with its cultural program – classical festival, theater, galleries, and the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus at the Kebbel Villa.

Five Concerts, Three Weeks
The festival runs over three weekends plus two additional concert evenings. Christoph Soldan, artistic director, has deliberately created a broad program for 2026: atmospheric soundtrack music, classical violin works, a solo piano recital, a crossover program between classical and world music, and a concluding piano festival within the festival.

- Sunday, September 27, 2026 – 5:00 PM — The Wonderful World of Laura: Piano recital with Laura Konjetzky
- Friday, October 2, 2026 – 7:30 PM — From Classical to World Music: Crossover program between classical works and folk/world music traditions
- Sunday, October 4, 2026 – 5:00 PM — Piano Festival within the Festival: Closing concert with a focus on piano
