Spring performance of the Tübingen Children's and Youth Circus on the Alte Festwiese Derendingen
Zambaioni is Tübingen's established children's and youth circus, based at Lorettoplatz, with several performance dates throughout spring, summer, and winter each year. In April/May, the circus presents its spring performance titled "Manege frei!" — in 2026, from Thursday, May 14th to Saturday, May 16th. The venue is their own circus tent on the Alte Festwiese Derendingen, Sieben-Höfe-Straße 4, directly behind the Kinderhaus Alte Mühle.
The 2026 performance program includes four dates: Thursday, May 14th, 2026, 7:00 PM (evening performance); Friday, May 15th, 2026, 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM (double performance); Saturday, May 16th, 2026, 2:00 PM (family performance). Each performance lasts around 80 minutes. On the circus ring, the children and teenagers of the circus showcase disciplines such as acrobatics, pyramids, juggling, aerial silks, clowning, plate spinning, hula hoop, and interactive segments.
Zambaioni is more than stage art — it is educational work with children and teenagers. Throughout the year, the young artists train regularly, learning techniques, trust, group dynamics, and performance discipline. The spring and summer performances are their window to the outside world, showcasing the results of this year-long process. Older teenagers also develop their own productions as their final project in their circus journey.
Tübingen, with nearly 90,000 inhabitants and its old Eberhard Karls University (founded in 1477), is one of the most renowned university cities in Southern Germany. In the Tübingen district and the state of Baden-Württemberg, the city is a cultural center with a rich landscape of theater, music, and children's culture. Derendingen is one of the southern districts with a village-like character — the Alte Festwiese is part of the established event calendar, featuring summer and spring festivals organized by local clubs.
The 2026 spring edition runs under the traditional title "Manege frei!" with four performances in their own circus tent. The children and teenagers of the Tübingen Zambaioni Circus showcase the results of their year's work in an 80-minute program of acrobatics, pyramids, juggling, aerial silks, clowning, hula hoop, and interactive segments.
