Charming Advent Bazaar in Lünen's Hansesaal
The Christmas Bazaar in the Hansesaal Lünen has been a firm tradition in Lünen's cultural calendar for years. On Saturday, December 5th, and Sunday, December 6th, 2026 — the first Advent weekend — the Lüner Hansesaal (Kurt-Schumacher-Str. 41) transforms into a lovingly decorated Advent bazaar with around 70 creative stalls on two floors. The concept is deliberately small-scale, quality-oriented, and charity-driven.
What is offered
The exhibitors are predominantly private individuals, artists, and associations presenting handmade products:
- Handmade Advent Decorations: Wreaths, stars, table arrangements, Advent calendars
- Knitted and Felt Items: Hats, scarves, felt jewelry, blankets
- Jewelry: Bead, silver, and fashion jewelry
- Homemade Jams and Preserves
- Homemade Liqueurs and Schnapps
- Christmas Cards and Paper Goods
- Woodwork and Ceramics
Charity Stand for Families in Need
A special feature of the Lünen Christmas Bazaar is the Charity Stand: Donated second-hand Christmas decorations are offered here; the proceeds benefit families in need in Lünen. This social component distinguishes the bazaar from classic Christmas markets and makes it a solidarity event for the city.
Opening Hours and Format
The format is deliberately small and visitor-friendly:
- Saturday, December 5th, 2026: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Sunday, December 6th, 2026: 11:00 AM–5:00 PM (St. Nicholas Day)
- Completely free admission
- Two floors of exhibition space
- Café and snack area in the Hansesaal
Lünen — City on the Datteln-Hamm Canal
Lünen (around 86,000 inhabitants) is located in the Kreis Unna district in the eastern Ruhr area and is the northernmost city in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, with access to the Datteln-Hamm Canal. The city was historically an important mining location and is today transforming into a green recreational and residential city. The Lüner Hansesaal is the city's central event and congress hall — it hosts concerts, trade fairs, receptions, and the annual Christmas Bazaar.
