About Chanson Pentecost Concert

The Chanson Pentecost Concert SansBaguette is an afternoon open-air event in the Orangerie Kultur series at Ebertpark. On Pentecost Monday, May 25, 2026, from 3 PM, the area around the Orangerie and the bandstand will be transformed into a French-inspired meeting point: The Duo SansBaguette will perform classic French chansons by Charles Trenet, Joseph Kosma, Édith Piaf, and Yves Montand, accompanied by Boule games and French culinary offerings including crêpes, quiches, wine, and pastis. Admission is free. The event is a regular part of the Orangerie Kultur summer programme 2026 and one of the central gatherings of the German-French Society Ludwigshafen/Mannheim.

Pentecost Monday in the French Spirit

Pentecost Monday in the Palatinate is traditionally a day for outdoor gatherings, often with culinary highlights. The Chanson Pentecost Concert at Ebertpark adds a French touch to these traditions: it combines the intimate atmosphere of a chanson concert with the Southern European-Mediterranean flair of Boule and picnics in the park. This event builds on the decades-long German-French cultural relations in the region.

SansBaguette: A Duo Between Voice and Piano

The duo SansBaguette, featuring singer Maleika Ledig-Schmidt and pianist Heidrun Arnegger (electric piano), performs a repertoire of classic French chansons. Charles Trenet, Joseph Kosma, Édith Piaf, Yves Montand, and Bettina Betti are central to their repertoire. Their interpretations combine textual fidelity with their own musical accents, remaining approachable and unpretentious – ideal for an open park atmosphere where the audience can hum along and take breaks for Boule and conversation.

Boule, Crêpes, Pastis

During the concert and intermissions, Boule games will be offered on the forecourt for everyone – bring your own balls, loaner sets available. The Turmrestaurant will provide French-inspired food: crêpes (sweet and savoury), quiches, savoury tarts, regional cheeses, accompanied by Palatinate and French wines, as well as pastis. This transforms the afternoon into a mini culinary trip to France.

Part of the Orangerie Kultur Series

The event is part of the Orangerie Kultur im Ebertpark 2026 summer series, which features concerts, dance parties, DJ sets, and culinary specials at the bandstand between May and October. The Pentecost Monday concert marks the beginning of the peak season for the summer programming.
