About Celler Hafenfest

Every year in May, the Celler Hafenfest transforms the Allerinsel and the harbor basin into a maritime experience landscape. Two stages, live concerts, shanty choirs, light art on the water, a Sunset Piano Concert, and a dedicated family day characterize the festival. In 2026, Saturday's program features Cindy Kirves, Hannah Schäfer, shanty choirs from Celle, Hambühren, Meißendorf, and Buchholz, as well as a Sunset Piano Concert with Alexander Vorontsov. Sunday is designed as a family day. Admission is free. The Hafenfest is part of the nationwide Day of Urban Development and highlights the Allerinsel as a living and cultural space.

Harbor Festival Atmosphere on the Aller

The Celler Hafenfest is one of the most beautiful city festivals in the Lower Saxon residence city. The venues are the Allerinsel and the Hafenbecken (harbor basin) – located right in the city center and accessible from the shore via several bridges. With water, trees, and the silhouette of the old town in the background, a maritime atmosphere is created, which is rarely found in a predominantly inland city.

Music Stages and Live Program

Two stages will be active over two days. On Saturday, the program includes Cindy Kirves, Hannah Schäfer, several shanty choirs from Celle, Hambühren, Meißendorf, and Buchholz, as well as a Sunset Piano Concert with pianist Alexander Vorontsov.

Light Art and Water Atmosphere

As darkness falls, light installations on the water, illuminated bridges, and light effects on the stages transform the harbor basin into an atmospheric space. The Sunset Piano Concert utilizes this special hour between day and night for a quiet, virtuously played piano concert directly by the water.

Family Day on Sunday

Sunday is designed as a family day: children's and interactive programs, small concerts, and activities by the water ensure a relaxed Sunday atmosphere. The Hafenfest ends on Sunday in the late afternoon.
