Student Open-Air Festival on the University Campus
The CampusOpenAir has been held in the Hanseatic city of Wismar since 2000 and is one of the largest student music festivals in Northern Germany. It is organized by the General Student Committee (AStA) of the Wismar University of Applied Sciences – entirely on a voluntary basis, by students for students and guests. The venue is the university's campus meadow in the Nordwestmecklenburg district.
Traditionally, the CampusOpenAir takes place on the first weekend of the winter semester, marking the festive start to the academic year. The quiet university campus transforms into a festival site for two days with a large stage featuring a program of well-known and regional artists.
Over the years, numerous well-known acts have performed on the CampusOpenAir stage, including Jennifer Rostock, MIA., The Donots, The BossHoss, Clueso, Thomas D., K.I.Z., Revolverheld, Bosse, Culcha Candela, and Samy Deluxe. Despite the large stage, admission remains affordable – the non-commercial, voluntary concept of the AStA makes it possible.
The mix of contemporary music, a relaxed vibe, and student spirit is what makes the festival so appealing. With its proximity to the Baltic Sea and the Hanseatic city of Wismar, the CampusOpenAir combines festival culture with the maritime flair of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, attracting students and festival fans from across the region.
The 26th CampusOpenAir will be celebrated on September 25 and 26, 2026, on the campus meadow of the Wismar University of Applied Sciences. The festival's theme for 2026 is the Baltic Sea.
A lineup of well-known acts will perform over the two festival days. For Saturday, September 26, 102 Boyz, Juli, and Benno are confirmed; further artists will be announced by the AStA of the Wismar University of Applied Sciences.
New this year are combo tickets for both festival days, offering savings compared to single-day tickets.
The festival's theme for 2026 is "Baltic Sea." The complete, updated lineup will be published by the AStA of the Wismar University of Applied Sciences on the festival website.
The Wismar University of Applied Sciences campus is located in the northwest of the city. Take the train to Wismar main station, then a city bus to the campus. By car, take the A20 motorway (exit Wismar).
Tickets are available in advance through the official festival website; new this year are combo tickets for both festival days. Prices are announced by the AStA of the Wismar University of Applied Sciences.
The festival coincides with the start of the semester – a great opportunity to combine a festival visit with exploring the university city.
