Burschenfest Deining — 50th Anniversary

The Burschenverein as a Pillar of Village Life

Burschenvereine (young men's associations) are a traditional form of village association in Bavaria — a community of young men (today usually open to all generations) that preserves customs, organizes club evenings, and hosts a major Burschenfest once a year. The Burschenverein Deining 1976, founded in the Deining district of the municipality of Egling in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026 — a silver jubilee to be honored with a three-day grand festival.

May 21 – 23, 2026 — Three Days of Anniversary Festival in Deining

The anniversary festival in Deining follows a classic three-day format:

• Thursday, May 21, 2026 — Beer Tapping from 6:00 PM. Festival kickoff with beer tapping by the Burschen-Obmann (chairman), welcome of guests of honor, first festival tent music.
• Friday, May 22, 2026 — Wine Festival from 6:00 PM. Wine version of the festival tent operation with Franconian-Bavarian wines, live music, and a cozy festival atmosphere.
• Saturday, May 23, 2026 — Burschenfest from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Main festival day with a ceremonial act, parade, festival tent operation, and great dance music until late into the night.

Integrated Early Summer Festivals in Egling

The municipality of Egling (5,500 inhabitants, 25 km south of Munich) also has two other important club dates in June 2026:

• Thursday, June 5, 2026 — St. John's Eve Celebration Ergertshausen from 7:00 PM. Traditional celebration for St. John's Day in the Ergertshausen district.
• Saturday, June 13, 2026 — Summer Solstice Celebration Moosham from 7:00 PM. Summer Solstice celebration with a bonfire and music in the Moosham district.

Both events are independent dates of the respective local clubs, but they complement the early summer calendar of the entire municipality of Egling.

Egling in the Pre-Alpine Transition Area

Egling is located between the town of Wolfratshausen and Lake Starnberg, at the transition from the Upper Bavarian hill country to the pre-Alpine region. The municipality comprises several districts (Egling, Deining, Ergertshausen, Endlhausen, Moosham, Aschach) with independent club life — typical for the rural character of this region south of Munich.

Significance of the 50th Anniversary

1976 was the founding year for numerous Burschenvereine in Bavaria — the 1970s were a peak period for the founding of village clubs. The Burschenverein Deining 1976 is part of this wave. 50 years later, the anniversary documents remarkable continuity: at a time when many village clubs are lamenting a decline in membership, Deining has maintained its club life stably over five decades — through generational handovers, festival traditions, and close ties to the village community.
