Inauguration of the Redesigned Castle Island

The castle island on the Marschdamm is one of the defining historical sites of the municipality of Horneburg. In recent years, it has been extensively renovated and redesigned. The Burginselfest on June 12, 2026, marks the official inauguration of the new island and makes the area visible to citizens and guests.

Eight Hours of Diverse Program

From 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, a packed program will take place on the castle island and in the surrounding castle park. Live music on the main stage alternates with roving acts and street art on the island. Medieval market stalls with historical craftspeople, sword fighting shows, and a historical encampment complement the program and highlight the historical significance of the site.

Children's Program in the Castle Park

From 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, an extensive children's program will run in the castle park: hands-on activities, craft sessions, storytellers, movement activities, and small performances. Parents can visit the main program during this time while the children are supervised.

International Guests – Ludza Choir

As a special guest, the Latvian choir from Ludza, Horneburg's partner city, will perform. The performance is an expression of the vibrant city partnership between the municipality and the East Latvian city. The musical offerings are complemented by the AtheBigband and a regional musical theater group.

Light Show as a Finale

The festival concludes with an evening light show on the castle island. The new lighting system of the island will be showcased, making the new character of the place tangible.
