Pentecost Concert of the Villa Musica Foundation at the only never-destroyed hilltop castle on the Middle Rhine
The Burgenklassik series is a musical hallmark of the Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz Foundation. On selected Sundays, it brings top performers and their young scholarship holders to the most beautiful castles and palaces in the state – including the Marksburg, Braubach's landmark and the only never-destroyed hilltop castle in the Middle Rhine Valley.
The 2026 Pentecost concert brings together two internationally sought-after soloists: Elisso Gogibedaschwili on violin and Marko Trivunovic on accordion. The program features a musical journey from the baroque rigor of Johann Sebastian Bach to the passionate tangos of Astor Piazzolla – an encounter that combines classical, folk, and new timbres.
The Marksburg-Schänke serves as an intimate concert space: historic walls, small ensemble, great impact. Before the concert, the castle invites you for a stroll along the ramparts and a view of the valley.
Villa Musica was founded in 1986 and is now one of the most important foundations supporting young chamber musicians in Germany. Its concerts in the historic sites of Rhineland-Palatinate combine top-tier music with cultural heritage – a concept that finds its most beautiful stage at Marksburg Castle.
The 2026 Pentecost concert is part of the Villa Musica Foundation's Burgenklassik season, bringing top-class soloists within the historic castle walls.
The combination of violin and accordion is rare in classical concerts; however, it allows for a unique richness of sound, especially in the arc from Bach to Piazzolla.
