Opening of the Mosel Festival Season
For generations, the Bullay May Fair has marked the festive start to the Mosel summer. While the larger wine festivals follow later in the year, the May Fair focuses on an uncomplicated mix of fairground fun, dance music, and regional wine offerings. The organizer is TSV Bullay/Alf e.V., one of the largest clubs in the region, which finances youth and amateur sports in both Mosel villages with the festival's proceeds.
Lindenplatz in the center of Bullay is an ideal festival location: centrally located, within walking distance of Bullay train station, and with enough space for a marquee, stage, and food stalls. For three evenings, bands from the region and surrounding areas perform – from Rhenish folk music to cover rock and early morning classics.
The wines come exclusively from the Bullay 'Brautrock' vineyard and the surrounding steep slopes of the Lower Mosel. In addition, draft Pils, Schorle (wine spritzer), and soft drinks are served. The culinary offerings range from classic fairground specialties like bratwurst and fries to regional Mosel cuisine.
Bullay is conveniently located on the Koblenz–Trier railway line (Mosel route) and is easily accessible via the ICE connection in Bullay. The May Fair is therefore not only a festival for Bullay locals but is also popular with weekend guests who spend the long weekend around Ascension Day and Corpus Christi on the Mosel.
The 2026 May Fair runs from Friday, May 8th, to Sunday, May 10th, on the central Lindenplatz in Bullay. The marquee opens in the late afternoon and evening each day. The organizer is TSV Bullay/Alf e.V., whose members organize and manage the festival on a voluntary basis.
Mayor Matthias Müller emphasizes in his welcoming address the importance of the festival for community life and invites locals and guests alike to spend "a few hours in good company.".
