Grand Wine and Autumn Festival with Parade
The Bullay Autumn Festival is the flagship of the local festival culture and one of the most important social events in the calendar year of the Zell collective municipality. For four days, the Moselle village transforms into a continuous festival mile, stretching from the festival grounds through the village center to the vineyard lanes.
Bullay is conveniently located in one of the most beautiful spots on the Moselle and is excellently connected via the Bullay environmental train station (serving IC and regional trains on the Koblenz–Trier line). The passenger ferry to Alf operates around the clock during the festival, bringing guests comfortably from the opposite Moselle bank to the festival grounds.
The undisputed highlight of the festival weekend is the grand parade on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 PM. Around 30 floats and walking groups, along with about five music bands, parade through the village center, humorously and lovingly addressing local and national themes with their creatively designed floats. On Saturday evening at 9:00 PM, fireworks illuminate the sky over the Moselle, creating a visual spectacle that has made the Autumn Festival famous far beyond the regional borders.
Culinary highlights include three specialties: wine tasting with Rieslings from the Bullay 'Brautrock' vineyard, the traditional spit-roasted ox, which has been a hallmark of the festival for decades, and the traditional pea soup on Monday, which provides a cozy end to the festival. Sunday features a church service and a children's program. Musically, bands from the Netherlands and the region accompany the events — the northern connection is a typical characteristic of the Moselle region, where Dutch guests have vacationed for generations.
The 2026 Autumn Festival in Bullay runs from Friday, September 11th, to Monday, September 14th. It opens on Friday evening with the grand wine tasting. Highlights include the parade on Saturday afternoon and the fireworks on Saturday evening. Sunday is dedicated to family programs and children's activities, while Monday concludes cozily with traditional pea soup.
