Advent Kick-off on the 1st Sunday of Advent

The 1st Sunday of Advent traditionally marks the start of the Christmas market season in many districts of Rheinhessen. The Büdesheim Christmas Market uses this day to ceremoniously usher in the Advent season. A small but charming market with wooden huts, fairy lights, and festive decorations is set up on the town hall square at Burgstraße 2.

Program

The program includes Christmas sales stalls offering handmade items, gift ideas, Advent decorations, and regional specialties. Food stalls will offer mulled wine, children's punch, bratwurst, crêpes, and winter snacks.

Visit from St. Nicholas from 4 PM

The highlight for the children is the visit from St. Nicholas on Sunday from 4 PM. The Holy Nicholas walks through the market, talks to the children, and hands out small gifts. This tradition has been a hallmark of the Büdesheim Christmas Market for years.

Parish, Associations, Neighborhood

The market is run by volunteers from the Parish of Bingen and members of local associations. Proceeds from catering will benefit church and community projects. Thus, the market is not only an Advent meeting point but also a contribution to the vibrant association landscape of the district.
