Schlossbrauerei Unterbaar
The Schlossbrauerei Unterbaar has been brewing beer for generations in the small town of Baar (Swabia), district of Unterbaar. The annual brewery festival also serves as an open house, concert venue, and meeting point for the region. Baar is located between Donauwörth, Neuburg an der Donau, Schrobenhausen, Aichach, and Augsburg in the Aichach-Friedberg district in Bavaria, in the heart of the Wittelsbacher Land.
Wittelsbacher Land as a Backdrop
The Wittelsbacher Land is an agriculturally characterized Upper Bavarian-Swabian region that traces its origins back to the noble House of Wittelsbach and is now marketed as a historical cultural landscape for tourism. Brewery festivals like the Unterbaar Brewery Festival are central meeting places for village communities, clubs, and families and form the social backbone of rural Bavaria.
