Four-day brewery festival by Schlossbrauerei around Ascension Day in the Wittelsbacher Land
The Brauereifest Kühbach is the annual festival of Schlossbrauerei Kühbach – one of Bavaria's oldest private breweries with roots in the Middle Ages. The venue is the festival grounds on Großhausener Straße, directly next to the brewery premises. Since its founding in 1987, the brewery festival has developed into one of the best-known beer festivals in western Upper Bavaria – sporty, familial, and deeply embedded in the local club landscape.
The kick-off on Father's Day / Ascension Day is the heart of the festival: a ceremonial beer tapping in the morning, a traditional Weißwurst breakfast (traditional white sausage breakfast) with pretzels and sweet mustard, accompanied by music from a Bavarian brass band. The festival tent is full from late morning; the beer is tapped fresh from the tap by the in-house brewery – Kühbacher Helles, Pils, Weißbier, and the festival-specific brewery festival beer.
Saturday is dedicated to a large children's afternoon: bouncy castle, ring toss, magician, face painting, and game stations for families. In parallel, the 34th International Brauereifest Ice Stock Sport Tournament is taking place in the rear section of the festival tent – an ice/summer stock sport competition with teams from the Wittelsbacher Land, Swabia, and even Austria. Ice stock sport tradition has deep roots in Kühbach.
Sunday begins with a festive church service in the festival tent, followed by a leisurely lunch and morning pint. In the evening, various party bands will perform: confirmed for 2026 are SOS, DJ Bartho, Sauwuid, and Getthat!. The music program ranges from Bavarian party classics and hits to modern cover band sets.
Schlossbrauerei Kühbach is one of Bavaria's oldest private breweries and, according to its own claims, an "eco-brewery" – with a focus on sustainable production. Kühbach Castle belongs to the market town of the same name with around 2,700 inhabitants in the Wittelsbacher Land. The annual brewery festival is the most important marketing and club event of the year for the brewery.
The Wittelsbacher Land (Aichach-Friedberg district) is the ancestral home of the Bavarian royal dynasty Wittelsbach. The landscape between Munich and Augsburg is characterized by small market towns, a dense club scene, brewery tradition, and lively customs. The Brauereifest Kühbach fits perfectly into this tradition – seven generations of ice stock sport players, three generations of brewers, a festival culture that has been alive for decades.
The Brauereifest Kühbach 2026 opens its festival tent doors from Thursday, May 14 (Father's Day / Ascension Day), to Sunday, May 17, 2026. The kick-off is the traditional Weißwurst breakfast with beer tapping on Father's Day morning. Over the long weekend, the children's afternoon, ice stock sport tournament, festive church service, and live music program are spread out.
