Brass Music Meets Festival Culture
The Brass Wiesn is Germany's largest festival for brass music and new folk music. On Echinger See in the Freising district, around 70 bands meet tens of thousands of visitors, who make the festival the biggest Wiesn stage for the younger generation year after year. The concept combines traditional brass music with modern pop, rock, and beat influences, clearly positioning itself between a Volksfest (traditional folk festival) and an open-air festival.
The Lineup
Stylistically, the Brass Wiesn spans several genres: classical brass bands, crossover brass bands, new Bavarian folk music, Balkan brass, and internationally oriented acts. Over the years, acts such as Edmund, LaBrassBanda, Shantel & Bucovina Club Soundsystem, Global Kryner, Oimara mit Bande, Die Fexer, Tom & Basti, Rian, and Menzl XXL have performed on stage. In addition, there are guest appearances by regional music ensembles.
Festival Grounds on Echinger See
The festival grounds extend around Echinger See, a former gravel pit lake that now serves as a local recreation area north of Munich. Several stages, a large beer tent atmosphere, and themed areas such as alpine huts, vintage tractors, and Bavarian decorations characterize the appearance. In addition, there is a dedicated camping area, which many visitors use throughout the weekend, as well as a cashless payment system.
Eching in the Freising District
Eching is located in the Freising district (AGS 09178) between Munich and the cathedral city of Freising and is easily accessible via the A 9 motorway and the S-Bahn line S1. With the Brass Wiesn, Eching has established itself as a permanent fixture on the Bavarian open-air scene.
