Immerse yourself in a world of dark traditional costumes, gleaming polished tubas, and hearty beer humor.

Bohemian-Moravian Brass Music in the Ries

The Böhmische Nacht is the annual concert highlight of the Trachtenkapelle Marktoffingen e.V., one of the oldest brass orchestras in the Bavarian Donau-Ries. The venue is the Turn- und Festhalle (also called Mehrzweckhalle) in the center of the municipality – seating in concert format with long tables, drinks and food service by the association.

What sounds at a Böhmische Nacht?

The musical repertoire is the classic Bohemian-Moravian brass music program: Polkas (e.g., "Böhmischer Traum", "Glück auf Polka"), Waltzes, Marches, and Egerländer pieces by great composers such as Ernst Mosch, Vlado Kumpan, Václav Hybš, or Mathias Rauch. The concert is often accompanied by friendly ensembles from the Ries, Swabia, and Bavarian-Swabia, who appear as guest performers in the program.

Trachtenkapelle Marktoffingen – Tradition for Generations

The Trachtenkapelle Marktoffingen is part of the dense club life in the Donau-Ries and is one of the established names in the Swabian-Bavarian brass music scene. The musicians perform in Ries traditional costume – dark jackets, black hats, Lederhosen for the men, long traditional dresses for the women. They rehearse all year round; central performances, besides the Böhmische Nacht, are the annual spring concert, weddings, and club festivals in the region.

Gala Evening with Beer Tent Atmosphere

Unlike a classical symphony concert, the audience at the Böhmische Nacht sits at long tables. Maßkrugs, Weißwurst, pretzels, and hearty snacks from the club's kitchen accompany the evening. Between pieces, spontaneous sing-alongs, small dance interludes, and beer merriment regularly occur – polka in its purest form.

Marktoffingen – Small Community, Great Club Culture

Marktoffingen is located in the western Donau-Ries (District Donau-Ries, Administrative Region Swabia) and, with around 1,500 inhabitants, is a typical Ries market town. The municipality belongs to the VG Wallerstein. Despite its manageable size, it maintains an extraordinarily dense club life – the Trachtenkapelle is one of several musical flagship ensembles.
