Traditional Kerwe in the Böhl district with a parade, bicycle race, and live music
Kerwen are the traditional church consecration festivals (Kirchweihfeste) of Palatinate villages, celebrating the anniversary of the local church's inauguration. The Böhler Kerwe follows this tradition and has been the major summer festival of the Böhl district for generations. It takes place on the last weekend of August and marks the transition from high summer to late summer for many in the Palatinate.
The traditional parade is one of the highlights of the Böhler Kerwe. Associations, music bands, flag bearers, floats, and costumed groups march through the town center, creating a festive atmosphere. The parade is an expression of the vibrant village community that supports the festival on a voluntary basis and attracts visitors from all over the Vorderpfalz.
A special feature of the Böhler Kerwe is the annual bicycle race. It combines the folk festival with Palatinate sporting tradition and adds excitement to the festival program. Local clubs, amateur cyclists, and ambitious racers compete on a circuit through the town center.
Bands and acoustic duos provide musical accompaniment on all four festival days. Cover bands, dialect groups, and pop sets alternate on the main stage. Culinary offerings include the full spectrum of Palatinate specialties: Bratwurst, Saumagen, Flammkuchen, fries, along with Palatinate wines, Schorle (wine mixed with sparkling water), and beer.
The Böhler Kerwe 2026 continues the long-standing tradition on the last weekend of August. For four days, the town center transforms into a festival mile with all the elements of a classic Palatinate Kerwe. The detailed program will be published by the local community in the summer.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Böhl community in the summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
