Palatinate wine festival (Weinkerwe) in the wine village of Böbingen with Mackenbacher Musikanten to kick things off and a crafts and children's program
The Böbinger Weinkerwe is the traditional wine and village festival (Kerwe) in the southern Palatinate wine village of Böbingen. From July 17 to 20, 2026, the village between the community center and the main street will transform into a festival grounds with wine stands, Palatinate specialties, live music, and a family-friendly program.
The Weinkerwe opens on Friday at 6 p.m. with the Mackenbacher Musikanten – a Palatinate brass music institution that has been part of the region's carnival and festival calendar for decades. In addition to the classic wine and festival activities, craft stalls and a dedicated children's program are part of the event. Böbingen is located in the Maikammer administrative district between Edenkoben and Landau, nestled in the vineyards of the Südliche Weinstraße (Southern Palatinate Wine Route).
The opening on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 6 p.m. will be performed by the Mackenbacher Musikanten. This Palatinate brass band is known beyond the region and will set the mood for the opening evening with its classic Palatinate brass repertoire. A traditional start that anchors the Weinkerwe format from the beginning.
The Böbingen winemakers will serve their wines in the courtyard of the community center and at the stands along the main street. Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Gris, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Rosé, and sparkling wines complement a typical Palatinate Weinkerwe selection. Palatinate specialties – Saumagen, Bratwurst, Flammkuchen, Leberknödel – complete the culinary offerings.
What sets the Böbinger Weinkerwe apart from other Palatinate Kerwen is the consistent integration of crafts and family activities. Artisans will showcase their work at market stalls, and village associations will organize a dedicated children's program with games, face painting, and small performances. This makes the Weinkerwe attractive for families and not just an adult wine festival.
Böbingen has around 1,200 inhabitants and is located in the Maikammer administrative district, one of the most traditional wine-growing regions in the southern Palatinate. Its location between Maikammer, Edenkoben, and Landau – in the middle of the vineyards of the Südliche Weinstraße – makes Böbingen a typical Palatinate wine-growing community with a vibrant festival culture. The Weinkerwe is the village's most important summer event.
Classic Palatinate Weinkerwe with opening brass music, dance evenings, morning pint (Frühschoppen), and family program. Festival grounds at the community center and along the main street.
