A Young City Festival with Strong Appeal

When the Birkenfelder Weinfest took place for the first time in 2023, it was an experiment by the city of Birkenfeld: a city festival deliberately focused on wine and quality-oriented gastronomy, separate from the classic fairground attractions. The format was immediately embraced by the public: thousands of visitors flocked to the Kirchplatz as early as the first edition and in the following years, and the festival established itself as a new spring event in the Nahe region.

Wine from the Nahe and Mosel

Vintners from the Nahe and – located near Birkenfeld – from the Mosel region will be serving their wines on the Kirchplatz. The selection ranges from dry Nahe wines from the areas around Bad Kreuznach to classic Mosel Rieslings, Burgundy varieties, and occasional sparkling wines. Regional gastronomy stands complement the wine offerings with tarte flambée, tapas, cheese specialties, regional sausages, and desserts.

Music and Atmosphere

Various music acts will alternate on the festival stage over the three days – cover bands, jazz, acoustic pop, singer-songwriters, and occasional classical accents. The atmosphere on the Kirchplatz in front of the historic Birkenfeld church is intimate and atmospheric, unlike the large tents of classic folk festivals. The Birkenfelder Weinfest has thus established itself as its own brand for the city.
