Grand parade through Bingen's city center with carnival activities in the Sandbühlhalle
The Binger Fastnachtsumzug is one of the largest carnival events in Rheinhessen and a fixed date on the region's carnival calendar. The parade is organized by the Narrenzunft Bingen e.V. (Bingen Carnival Society), which has been organizing street carnival in Bingen for decades.
The parade starts on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 3:30 PM and winds through Bingen's city center. Thousands of spectators line the streets as floats, dance groups, brass bands, and walking groups from Bingen and the entire region march through the city.
The typical structure of a Rhenish carnival parade is also reflected in Bingen: led by the floats of participating clubs, followed by dance groups in historical uniforms, brass bands with powerful horn sections, walking groups in creative costumes, children's groups, and the Bingen dignitaries (Prince, Princess, and court).
After the street parade, the carnival fun moves to the Sandbühlhalle. There, a bar, DJ, and party atmosphere await the carnival-goers who continue to celebrate into the evening after the parade. The hall carnival is particularly popular with younger age groups and club members.
Bingen is located in the heart of the Rhenish carnival region and cultivates its own distinct carnival culture. It aligns with the Mainz tradition of hall-based carnival (dance groups, seated events) and the Cologne tradition of street parades, but also sets its own accents.
