About Binger Fastnachtsumzug

The Binger Fastnachtsumzug (Bingen Carnival Parade) will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 3:30 PM as a grand Narrensprung (parade of jesters) through Bingen's city center. The Narrenzunft Bingen e.V. (Bingen Carnival Society) has been organizing one of the largest carnival parades in Rheinhessen for decades. Thousands of spectators line the streets as floats, dance groups, brass bands, and walking groups from Bingen and the entire region march through the city. After the parade, the carnival fun moves to the Sandbühlhalle: a bar, DJ, and party atmosphere await the carnival-goers. The Binger Fastnachtsumzug is embedded in the Rhenish carnival tradition between Mainz, Cologne, and Düsseldorf and is a fixed date on the region's carnival calendar. It is a highlight of the carnival season for families, clubs, and onlookers.

Floats, Dance Groups, Brass Bands

The typical structure of a Rhenish carnival parade is also reflected in Bingen: led by the floats of participating clubs, followed by dance groups in historical uniforms, brass bands with powerful horn sections, walking groups in creative costumes, children's groups, and the Bingen dignitaries (Prince, Princess, and court).

Carnival Fun in the Sandbühlhalle

After the street parade, the carnival fun moves to the Sandbühlhalle. There, a bar, DJ, and party atmosphere await the carnival-goers who continue to celebrate into the evening after the parade. The hall carnival is particularly popular with younger age groups and club members.

Rhenish Carnival Tradition

Bingen is located in the heart of the Rhenish carnival region and cultivates its own distinct carnival culture. It aligns with the Mainz tradition of hall-based carnival (dance groups, seated events) and the Cologne tradition of street parades, but also sets its own accents.
